Global
Culture and the Internet
This
course is a survey of the changing face of global media.
This course focuses on acquainting the student with the
issues and challenges associated with the impact of media,
such as advertising, on the global political and cultural
environment. Lectures will be supplemented by research
conducted by the instructor into advertising's impact
on Russia (1989-1994), as well as dynamically involving

Web
Communication and Society
This
course was an immersion into the web. It was the fifth
or sixth web course created in the School of Journalism
and Mass Communication (see Bonnie Bressers for the first).
In
the course, you might have learned that web has a
history (fairly brief), lots of controversy, and,
therefore, plenty of articles devoted to making it
clearer, making it more open, and making it simple.

Intermediate
Web Communications
This
course is a clinic, a hands-on experience that includes
concept invention, planning, content development, and
publishing (or should have). It is labeled "intermediate"
inasmuch as it extended talents you have learned in other
classes. Each of you with work and dedication
may learn a lot in this class. Prereqs included a mass
communication writing class.You will—at the least—learn
how to construct a web page. [Most

Advanced
Web Communications
Web
construction has entered a second phase. In the past,
web sites have been set up and run by those familiar with
arcane computer technologies. Increasingly, site owners
are looking for managers to control the growth and content
of sites. They're looking for web managers. That's what
JMC 690 Advanced Websites was all about. The only prerequisite
was my permission. [R.I.P.]

Web
Practicum
This
course is a clinic, a hands-on experience that includes
client management, concept invention, planning, content
development, and publishing. For some of you, this will
extend what you learned in the JOMC 690 Advanced Websites
class. However, each of you with work and dedication
can learn a lot in this course. (There are no classes
-- you'll work entirely online.)
