to Students: Community Learning
Placing
students in communities to work in creating uses for new
media. Student "technology teams" work with
community leaders to establish needs, create content and
train local "technologists" to maintain sites
after the project has ended.
Service
to the Community
Conduct seminars on web site construction and maintenance
in various communities in Kansas. This has included local
technology training in site maintenance, conference sessions
evaluating community sites, and working directly with
communities, non-profits and businesses to train use of
new media to solve specific challenges.
Service
to School
Created in 1998 Orion, one of the first and only student-run
web labs in the nation.
Chair
of Scholarship Committee 2000-2003 and serve on various
committees (including Executive Council).
Assist
students in internships and created e-mentor program for
advisees.
Service
to University
Serve on University web design committee and co-chair
University library committee.
